Who We Are
Paths & Journeys Counseling and Therapy Services, LLC was born from the desire to be a light in a dark place. After years of working within traditional mental health systems, our founder saw firsthand how those very systems often created more harm than healing—especially for communities of color. That realization became a turning point. The system wasn't just flawed; it was part of the problem. So, a new path was created—one that centers people, relationships, and healing outside of rigid frameworks.
Founded in 2018, Paths & Journeys began as a small practice committed to doing things differently. We serve individuals, couples, and families with a relational lens—understanding that no one comes into the therapy room alone. Each person brings their family system, neighborhood, education, spiritual practices, culture, and lived experiences with them. That full picture matters.
At Paths & Journeys, we don’t believe healing happens in isolation. We believe in supporting the whole person in the context of their relationships and community. Our work is grounded in the belief that healthy relationships create healthy humans, and that even small changes can lead to profound transformation.
We are especially passionate about uplifting African American and underrepresented communities, who deserve care that is culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and rooted in compassion. Since opening our doors, we’ve supported over 150 community members—87% of whom identify as BIPOC—and we remain committed to walking alongside our clients with curiosity, hope, and integrity.
In addition to therapy and supervision, we bring our mission to life through intentional community-based efforts that reflect our belief that healthy relationships create healthy people. One of those efforts is the Paths & Journeys Family Conference—a free, culturally grounded event designed for caregivers and families of color. Rooted in the pillars of health, relationships, discipline, and family flow, the conference offers a welcoming space to build skills, deepen connection, and access real-life tools for navigating family life. It’s a space to be seen, supported, and reminded that strong families are the foundation of individual and community well-being.
We also know that healing work must extend beyond the therapy room—and into the systems that shape how care is delivered. That’s why we created the Rooted to Lead with Purpose program: to grow and support a new generation of trauma-informed, culturally responsive clinical supervisors. This program is our way of shifting the mental health system from within, ensuring that underrepresented communities have leaders who understand their lived experiences and are equipped to guide others with integrity and care.
Taking the road less traveled hasn’t always been easy—but it’s made all the difference.
Welcome to Paths & Journeys. We’re honored to walk this road with you.
